Combined Biotechnology Entrance Exam(CBEE)

CBEE – Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination




Offered by Jawaharlal Nehru University on behalf of the participating universities, CBEE is an entrance exam for admitting students in to the courses of M.Sc. (Biotechnology), M.Sc. (Agri)/M.V.SC (Biotechnology) & M.Tech (Biotechnology) for the academic year 2013-2014. Each course has its own prospectus and therefore the candidates wishing to apply for than one course are advised to apply separately. CBEE entrance examination will be held in 52 cities. The CBEE exam is highly competitive as it is a national level entrance exam with large number of institutes across the country participating in this exam. The exam pattern for each program is different and hence it is advisable to have a thorough check of the respective program pattern.



  • Eligibility for CBEE



The eligibility criteria for admission to the above mentioned courses through CBEE are as follows


M.Sc (Biotechnology)

Graduation from a recognized university or equivalent institute with at least 55% marks is the minimum requirement and the candidates from the science, agriculture, medical, pharmacy, and engineering background.


M.Tech (Biotechnology)

Candidates must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in the desired stream as suggested by the university with engineering or masters’ degree.

M.Sc Agri / M.V.Sc (Biotechnology
Candidate must have a Bachelor degree in biology or in Agriculture, Diary, Veterinary Science, biotechnology, horticulture etc. with at least 55% marks from a recognized university or equivalent institute.

The following are the basic units covered for the CBEE exam:

M.Sc Agri / M V Sc. Biotechnology

• Agricultural Biochemistry, Agricultural Biotechnology, Agricultural Microbiology, Animal husbandry and Veterinary Science, Biostatistics, Cell Biology, Cropping systems and Crop Management, Ecology and environment, Genetics and plant breeding, Horticulture and Forestry, Plant Physiology, Principles of Food Science and Processing, Protection, Seed Technology, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry.

M Tech Biotechnology

• Basic Engineering and Technology Pharmacology
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Fundamentals of Life Sciences and Informatics
• Life Sciences
• Computer Application
